Hi there
Hi, my name is Li Yiyang (Amber), a second-year PhD student in Applied Mathematics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. My research is centred on developing advanced solutions for stochastic multi-objective optimisation problems, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical mathematics and practical applications in ML and other fields. I hold a BSc in Mathematics and an MSc in Statistics (Data Science) from Imperial College London.
Oh right—before I forget, my core identity in the following years: PhD student!!!!!!!
I once read a sentence in a book for PhD students that stuck with me:
"You will experience periods of self-doubt which you must come through with the clear aim of becoming a competent professional researcher.
But I couldn't think of a more fulfilling or pleasure way of spending my time.
It's almost instinctive."

But I couldn't think of a more fulfilling or pleasure way of spending my time.

And there are days when I seek words to keep going… The following is the one I copied twice:

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep.
And miles to go before I sleep...”

And miles to go before I sleep.
And miles to go before I sleep...”
